R2 Chapter biggest in SFI!!!!!!!
As of today the USS Republic, with 46 members, is the LARGEST in Starfleet!!!!!!They have nudged out the Southern Cross in Australia by 6 members. Following close behind are R5's Thermopylae and R9's Aviator and Europe are about there too.
Operations points out this could change with a few renewed memberships but I will take any opportunity to crow for one of our chapters.
Great job to the crew of the USS Republic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Saturday, October 6, 2007
R2 HQ Halloween/Housewarming Party
Regional HQ, otherwise known as Towaway's abode, is hosting a Halloween Party on October 27th and YOU are invited.Why am I doing this? Florida missed out on the USS Paegan cookout over the summer AND I have just got everything settled at my place of residence and have wanted to have a house sitting/warming party so, this seemed like a perfect excuse!
This is the annual USS Trident Halloween Party and our crew is opening the invitation for all of Region 2. We usually don't get started until after 5PM but if you want to come early and hang out, please feel free.....just let me know ahead of time. Traditionally, the Trident makes this a pot luck with our chapter funds pitching in some of the food but all are encouraged to bring something yummy and edible. We will work out some more details as far as any entertainment, games ect for the evening as the date gets closer. I also hope to have the pool's heater fixed/running by then. There are extra bedrooms and a HUGE living room for anyone needing crash space.
Since this is a HALLOWEEN party and not simply a costume party there is a ban on Trek costumes/uniforms. I will boo, harass and bother anyone who shows in a trek themed costume....BE WARNED.
For more details and directions, please feel free to contact me. There is also a link to Yahoo Maps on the calendar page of the USS Trident website at www.usstrident.org.
I know it's only a few weeks before Vulkon...but HEY! It's a party!
Hope you can make it.
Towaway out.......

What Can CompOps Do For You?
It's been a few weeks since I took over as Region Two CompOps. There are a lot of things that the CompOps department can do for members of the region. I want to go over a few of the things that we can offer.First, let me introduce our CompOps staff:
CompOps Staff
Director: Dave Lowe [davedorm@gmail.com]
Assistant Directors:
R2 Historian: Danny Potts [treknoid@aol.com]
IRC Services: Kirylyn Dreamer [kdreamer@gmail.com]
Web Services: Abe Smith [n_star99@yahoo.com]
Chapter Directory Updates
As many are aware, the site has needed information updated. I am in the midst of making updates to the Region 2 chapter directory. Please take a moment to visit:
http://www.region2.org/chapters.php
Please look over your chapter's listing on this page. Please email me privately (not on this list) with any changes. Stuff to look for:
* CO Name/Rank
* CO Email
* XO Name/Rank
* XO Email (most are not listed, would like to correct that!)
* Chapter snail mail address
* Chapter Phone (if you want it listed!)
* Chapter website address
* Chapter logo (is it the right one?)
* Ship Class (the picture, is it right?)
I pulled much of the information from the "old" website and the STARFLEET Database. Sometimes, these sources are not correct. Let's be realistic for a moment. I am not psychic. I am not a telepath. Hell, I am not even an empath. So if your info is not updated, the reason is I did not know about any changes to your chapter. So please look over your information carefully.
The new website
Yes, the team has rolled out the new design. So far, initial reviews are good, but we would like to hear from YOU. What do you think? What could make it better? Something you hate? Let us know!
What features would YOU like to see your Region Two Website add to the mix? Now is your chance, this site is being rebuilt from the ground up. This is the time to make suggestions. I would rather have suggestions NOW than complaints LATER.
Region 2 Listserve
Are all your chapter's members subscribed to the Region 2 listserve that wish to be? Please get with me if anyone needs help subscribing to the listserve, or needs an email address corrected. ESPECIALLY contact me if someone is receiving mail that does not wish to be subscribed.
Need Webspace?
Does your chapter need a website? Is your current site on GeoCities or Tripod or AOL and filled with unwanted advertising? The Region can host your website free of charge. Contact me and we'll get you set up.
This is not a plug for SFI Labs. This is webspace on the Region Two server. You can get a web address such as http://chapter.region2.org or http://www.region2.org/chapter and we'll set up an FTP account so you can have your site uploaded to the server. Need help? We will offer as much help as you need.
"Vanity" URLs and Emails
You happy with your current website, but it has an unwieldy free service's domain name? We can help! We can set up a redirect to your http://chapter.region2.org and
forward it to your website. Just let us know. We can also set up vanity email addresses on the region2.org domain for you to pull as standard POP mailboxes or simply forward in to your existing email.
Personal Websites and Blogs
Want a weblog? Want personal web space for yourself? We can set aside web space for you, and install some of the more popular software. WordPress, Joomla, Xoops, Drupal, phpBB, and many many more are all available for quick "turnkey" installation.
That's all for now. Please address any concerns to me directly by private email (off list) and we'll talk.
That is all. Thanks for the bandwidth! Monday, August 27, 2007
World Of Warcraft Update
Greetings to All,Just wanted to update folks on how things are progressing in the and of World of Warcraft, MMORPG Game Extradonaire :)
Our Alliance Guild "Guardians of Forever" is doing well. We now have 3 people at the max of Lvl 70 - Grats to Pete, Dennis and Mike!! with a few in the early level 60's, with a few more in the mid 50's. There are plans afoot to start running some Dungeons and Instances (higher level war mongering and fighting!) and several SFI folks in other Guilds have offered to lend us a hand so the members can get better acclimated to running amongst top level monsters and other critters to fight.
Our Horde Alliance "The Tal Shiar" A few folks said they wanted to experience the game on the Horde side of things and so we started some characters this past week (we call them Toons!) So everyone started from scratch and we have 2 folks who have reached Level 20 so far (Mike and Scott WOOT!) and a bunch of other folks who are in the mid teens (Sandy, Pete, Dennis and Jill to name a few). There are of course folks with lower level toons, but they work on them from time to time. It is fun to be in an entire new area to explore and to see different mobs and things to fight then on the alliance side.
In case you wondered... the guild name came about as the toon most of us have started are a race called Blood Elves and they bare a good resemblance to Romulans. The name Tal Shiar (Romulan Intelligence) was suggested and most liked it, so that was the name of the guild that was chosen.
That does it for now, If anyone would care to join us at anytime on either side, let us know and we will arrange to get you acclimated and involved with the rest of us!
