The game is Texas Hold'em. The stakes are high. Do you have what it takes to run with the big dogs? Are you ready to go "All In?" The region has discovered a cool poker game called PokerTH, it’s an Open Source Texas Hold'em Poker Engine. It is coded in C++, runs cross-platform on Windows, Linux, Mac, and source code is available you can compile it for your toaster.
PokerTH is a classic Texas Hold'em style poker game. With support for up to 6 networked or computer players, custom avatars, custom cards, online chat, sound and an easy-to-use graphical interface, it’s sure to provide hours of fun play.
It plays very well! It plays standalone, you against up to 6 computer players. It also plays a network game where you can host a game, give folks your IP address, and get up to 7 people in a game over the Intarwebs.
Downloads
To host a game, you’ll need to make sure port 7234 is available and forwarded to the PC running the game. Please don’t ask me how to do that, it all depends on your setup, OS, hardware, moon phases, planetary alignment and rubbing of rabbit’s feet. You’ll have to know what you are doing.
